Ringo Starr celebrated his 85th birthday on Monday (July 7) at Beverly Hills Garden Park alongside friends, family, and special guests. T Bone Burnett served as emcee of the festivities,  leading a musical tribute to the legendary Beatles drummer that featured performances by Jackson Browne, Sam Phillips, Lucius, and Molly Tuttle. After enjoying performances of his songs, Starr held up his phone (which he was using to livestream the party) and told the audience: “Just to let you know, Paul [McCartney] thought it was great!” In addition to a speech by Starr’s longtime friend Joe Walsh, and a detailed breakdown of his drumming style by Fred Armisen, the former Beatle was presented with a proclamation by the Beverly Hills mayor, who officially declared it Ringo Starr Day. Amid the festivities, Burnett revealed that a follow-up album to Starr’s acclaimed recent country record, Look Up, is already in the works. (Variety)
