An Oasis fan named Joel Garner missed the entirety of the band’s homecoming reunion concert at Heaton Park in Manchester after a security guard collided with him, knocking him unconscious. According to Garner’s sister Evie, the incident occurred as the group of five, including Joel, were headed to a bar. Security guards were chasing a gate crasher, and in the process, “they clattered into the guy who jumped the barrier and Joel.” The collision caused Joel to lose consciousness and have a seizure on the ground. Evie recounted that the security guards seemed uninterested in Joel’s condition, asking if he had jumped the fence or was “collateral damage.”

Joel was rushed to the on-site medical tent just as the show began, and he was eventually taken to the hospital, where he remained until 4:00 a.m., missing the entire Oasis performance. While Joel’s CT scan came back clear, he expressed being “gutted” to have missed the concert and is now pleading for tickets to Oasis’s upcoming reunion shows. The Greater Manchester Police investigated the incident, but Joel decided not to press charges. (COS)
