On Tuesday (August 12), Depeche Mode announced that the concert film, Depeche Mode: M, documenting the band’s sold-out 2023 Mexico City shows on their Memento Mori Tour, is set for a global theatrical release on October 28. The film, directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías, will be shown across 2,500 screens and IMAX venues in over 60 countries, with tickets set to go on sale beginning on September 17. The concert film premiered at the Tribeca Festival earlier this year, with frontman Dave Gahan sharing a statement about the project: “At its core, our new film M is about the deep connection between music, culture, and people—and Fernando Frías, who directed and conceived the film, did a beautiful job telling that story that through the lens of Mexican culture and our shows in Mexico City.” The Memento Mori Tour, supporting Depeche Mode’s 15th studio album, ranked ninth among the highest-grossing rock tours of 2024, earning nearly $125 million from 63 shows with 910,000 tickets sold.
