The music world has missed Lorde so much!!
Ella Yelich-O’Connor, better known by her artist name Lorde, has been pretty quiet over the past few months. In November, in a letter written to her fans, she revealed that she was greiving the loss of her dog and that it had been extremely difficult for her. She also shared that she was putting music on the back burner and taking the time to mourn her loss.
It has been several years since Lorde has released any music projects. Her last album Melodrama was released in 2017.
Lorde has since broke her absence in an email sent through her mailing list to update the fans. In the letter, Lorde shared how grateful she was for how the government was handling the coronavirus.
“I know you may not be afforded that where you live, and I hope you’re taking it one day at a time and trying not to feel too destroyed by the news. I’m thinking of you all the time.”
She also shared with her fans some new information about her heavily awaited return to music. She wrote how she has been working with Jack Antonoff and was working on new music when the world began to shut down.
“As I get older I realise there’s something to be said for the pleasant feeling of waiting for something of quality to become available to you. You could have something of lesser quality much faster, but as the high quality thing comes into fruition, a warm feeling grows inside you.”
“In my opinion, the greatest treat I can give you is work that will last ten, twenty, thirty years. And that kind of work takes time. So if you can, I’d like for you to try tuning in to the time spent waiting for something of the highest quality to arrive.”
We are so excited for your new music Lorde!!
