Local Pub to Hold Birthday Benefit Event in Memory of Chef Jason Burgess

Local Grand Rapids pub, Logan’s Alley, is throwing “It’s a Jay Thing,” a benefit birthday party in honor of late chef and friend, Jason “Jay” Burgess.

The event will be held at Logan’s Alley (916 Michigan St NE) on August 14 starting at 7:00 a.m. and will go until 2:00 a.m. on August 15. It will celebrate Jay’s life with a silent auction featuring his artwork and his favorite pastime, karaoke, which will start at 7:00 p.m. 50% of total daily sales will be donated to a charity of his family’s choice.

Back in May, cancer took Jay’s life just months after his diagnosis. The death of this local legend and friend to all who met him left a gaping hole in the lives of many and Logan’s Alley as a whole misses his presence. August 14 would have been his birthday, so the pub that loved him wants to celebrate his life and memory by hosting his favorite activity, pouring out his favorite beer and raising money to give back to others.

“It’s a Jay Thing” will celebrate Jay’s life by bringing the community together for a great time. All are welcome to join in the fun whether you knew “Jersey Jay” or not. Karaoke and silent auction start at 7:00 p.m.
