Bill Nye Speaks Out on Climate Change: ‘The Planet’s on F—ing Fire’

When you walked into a class room and saw a TV in the middle of the room you knew what was in store… A science lesson from Bill Nye! For many of us Bill Nye was a HUGE part of our lives in elementary school, teaching us that science is cool, and getting his theme song stuck in our head for the rest of the day!

Bill appeared on the “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” on Sunday to talk about the Green New Deal, introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey. His explanation was blunt but to the point he even  attempted to explain “carbon pricing.”

“When we release carbon, say, by burning coal or driving an SUV, all of us pay for that in the form of things like fires, floods and crop failures, putting a fee on carbon creates incentives to emit less carbon, and, more importantly, it also incentivizes the development of low-carbon technology, which is huge, because that’s vital to reducing emissions globally. And because for some reason, John, you’re a 42-year-old man who needs his attention sustained by tricks, here’s some f***ing Mentos and a bottle of Diet Coke. Happy now?”
